How should a Syria passport photo look?
Syria requires a 40×40 mm white-background photo for biometric passport applications. Women who normally wear a headscarf may do so in the photo, provided the face remains fully visible within the frame. The photo must be submitted within six months of the capture date.

The bodies that set the spec
The standard is published by the General Directorate of Passports and Immigration (Mudiriyyat al-Jawazat wal-Hijra al-Amma) under the Ministry of Interior. Passport applications are processed through designated immigration offices. The background must be plain white.
Workflow after the shoot

Capture setup and direction

Cue: "chin slightly back, mouth closed, eyes fully open, neutral expression". A headscarf is accepted as long as the face is not covered; a niqab or full face cover is not accepted.
Reasons for rejection at the passport directorate
• A non-white background: grey, cream or coloured backdrops are rejected. • A niqab or face covering: chin, forehead and cheeks must all be fully visible. • A photo older than six months from the capture date. • Glasses glare or tinted lenses. • A smile, visible teeth or an open mouth.
