How should a Sri Lanka passport photo look?
Sri Lanka requires a light blue background for passport and National Identity Card (NIC) photos, unlike most countries that require white. The bodies that set the spec
Passport applications are managed by the Department of Immigration and Emigration. NIC applications are processed by the Registrar General's Department. Both agencies mandate a light blue background for all submitted photos.

• A white or any other non-light-blue background: Sri Lanka mandates a light blue backdrop; this is the most common rejection cause. • A photo older than six months from the capture date. • A smile, visible teeth or an open mouth. • Glasses glare or tinted lenses. • Head too small in the frame or poorly aligned. • Dark or saturated blue: the background must be light blue; dark blue is not accepted.
