The bodies that set the spec
The standard is set by the Ministry of Interior (Ministerstvo vnútra SR); applications are processed through local authority offices (miestny úrad) or the Oddelenie evidencie obyvateľstva (Civil Registration Department). Both the passport and the ID card use the 35×45 mm white-background format.

• A non-white background: grey, cream or coloured backdrops are rejected. • A photo older than six months from the capture date. • A smile, visible teeth or an open mouth. • Glasses glare or tinted lenses: glasses are generally discouraged under ICAO rules. • Head too small in the frame or poorly aligned.
