Always verify the size before an official application

The information here reflects the sizes commonly accepted for visa applications. Authorities can change photo requirements without prior notice, and different documents in the same country (passport, ID card, driving licence, residence permit) may require different sizes. Check the current guidance of the authority you are applying to before preparing your photo.

How should a Poland visa photo look?

Poland uses a 35×45 mm print or a digital file at minimum 492×633 px (commonly 768×1004 px), maximum 2.5 MB JPEG. The backdrop is white with even lighting and the face fills 70-80% of the frame. Citizens abroad book passports via e-Konsulat (secure.e-konsulat.gov.pl); domestic processes run through mObywatel and gov.pl portals.

The bodies that set the spec

The standard is published by MSWiA. The photo must be within six months of the capture date. Prescription glasses are accepted with eyes fully visible and no glare; tinted lenses only with a medical certificate.

Workflow after the shoot

Open the frame in PhotoID Studio and pick the Polska preset; the app aligns the face, cleans the backdrop to pure white and exports 35×45 mm at 300 DPI alongside a 768×1004 px JPEG for e-Konsulat / mObywatel uploads.

Capture setup and direction

Seat the customer 1.5-2 m in front of a white backdrop with shoulders parallel to the camera. Camera on a tripod, lens at eye level. Standard setup: a 50-85 mm portrait lens, f/8, a softbox at 45° with a reflector opposite. Even lighting is essential: no shadows. Cue: "chin slightly back, mouth closed, eyes fully open, neutral expression".

Why consulates or mObywatel reject

• Backdrop other than white. • JPEG above 2.5 MB or below the 492×633 px floor. • Face outside 70-80% of the frame. • A frame older than six months from the capture date. • Tinted lenses without a medical certificate. • A smile, visible teeth, an open mouth. • Hair covering the eyes.

e-Konsulat plus mObywatel pipeline

Polish studios deliver print plus digital together; the same frame yields the JPEG for e-Konsulat and the file for mObywatel. The PhotoID Studio Polska preset produces both the 35×45 mm print and the 768×1004 px JPEG in one go.
